Since prom is a long way ahead, in my country we have the Freshman Ball. It takes place somewhere in November-December and it's more than just a simple dance. A comitee picks a number of freshmen to participate in an anual Mister & Miss competition, whici is arguably the highlight of the event.
Participants (in pairs) will compete in challenges and must wow the judges and the crowd in order to get crowned Miss & Mister Freshman. The challenge I'd like to talk about in detail is the Evening attire, in which the girls must wear beautiful evening dresses. Since I participated in my youth in this competition, I know how hard it can be to find that perfect dress, so I am here to help.
My recent online navigation brough me to the website http://www.pickedlooks.com, which specializes in all kinds of ball, prom and formal dresses. They claim to offer "an enhanced boutique experience online with a wide range of beautiful dresses and fancy accessories. Dressed in spectacular beading, glamorous laces and enchanting fabrics, you are assured to be the center of elegance and attention."
Sounds great, doesn't it? Well that's not all! To suit every buyer's need, they also make custom work, depending on your preference, body type and the event you are attending.
Now, without further ado, here are my picks from PickedLooks :
I will always be attracted to red gowns, especially ones that as beautiful as the dress in the picture above. The crystals detailing the waist, the rich color and the sweep train make this a classic choice, one that will never get out of style.
If you are more into cobalt blue (one of this fall's trendies colors), this beautiful dress with flower beaded sequins and short sleeves is perfect for this season.
White isn't just for before Labor Day. This peplum A-line dress is simply beautiful, not only because of the intricate beadings in the chest area, but also for it's timeless character.
For the ones who prefer a shorter cut, fret not! The website also carries mini ball dresses, like this mauve mist one.
I can't imagine a dress top without a black dress, especially one garnished with lace and tulle.
The final dress I picked is this red sweetheart split one, covered in sequins all over, reminiscent of the one Jessica Rabbit wears. This one is definitely a more sexy and mature style choice.
